The death of Harold Ramis will not affect the fate of "Ghostbusters 3," this according to The Hollywood Reporter. The trade magazine reports that Ramis was set to make a cameo appearance in the film alongside fellow "Ghostbusters" stars Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray, but the script will now be restructured. Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky are the credited writers on the "Ghostbusters 3" screenplay.
"Ghostbusters 3" has long been in development. The most recent news about the project was a rumor that Jonah Hill and Emma Stone would potentially star in the film. In an interview with ShortList back in May of last year, Aykroyd said he had planned to meet with director Ivan Reitman to discuss plans for "Ghostbusters 3," which included the idea of focusing on a "new generation" like "the latest 'Star Trek.'"
While Aykroyd has displayed continued enthusiasm for the project, fans have grown weary. The THR update about the state of "Ghostbusters 3" following Ramis' death caused a firestorm on Twitter, with many "Ghostbusters" aficionados griping about the film's existence.
