Apparently, the whirlwind romance at the heart of "The Bachelor" premise proved too much for one contestant this week. With only three weeks to go until the season finale, Sharleen finally had to admit she couldn't go on.
"The idea of a proposal ... it doesn’t seem like something that is possible for me," she said. "And maybe that’s me needing a lot of time." She said she couldn't get to that place mentally or emotionally within the next three weeks. As such, it wouldn't be fair for her or Juan Pablo if she continued, and so Sharleen eliminated herself from the competition.
It was a move that HitFix's Liane Bonin Starr thought took a lot of guts. "She gave the budding relationship every opportunity to blossom -- and ultimately did the right, selfless thing by leaving," she wrote. The Stir's Emily Abbate echoed those sentiments, writing, "For her to ... be honest with herself that this scenario with Juan Pablo, albeit sexually charged, isn't what's right for her -- that's respectable."
"The Bachelor" airs every Monday at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
