The Red Hot Chili Peppers joined Bruno Mars on stage during the Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show, performing their song "Give It Away."

The Chili Peppers' '90s funk rock and Mars retro-pop proved to be a dynamic combination during the halftime show.

Despite being shirtless for their performance, the Chili Peppers kept things G-rated. Not that their behavior wasn't in question: Back in January, bassist Flea had asked his Twitter followers if they wanted to see his "c--k" during the Super Bowl. (The tweet was soon deleted.) Fortunately, Flea avoided becoming the next wardrobe malfunction on the Super Bowl stage.

On Jan. 29, a song called "Abracadabralifornia" surfaced on the Internet, claiming to be a new Chili Peppers song crafted specifically for their Super Bowl showing. The song, however, was quickly revealed as a hoax, originally recorded in 2013 by comedian Jon Daly and Hot Karate frontman Cyrus Ghahremani for the podcast "Comedy Bang Bang" as an homage to the band.

Drummer Chad Smith also said that after their Super Bowl performance, the band will be focusing on writing their next album.
