Scarlett and Gunnar had a big opportunity walk up and say hello on the latest "Nashville" when Kelly Clarkson guest-starred on the show as herself. She wanted to meet and chat with the pair about writing a few songs for her next record. It's the kind of opportunity so many musicians in Nashville dream of, so how did Scarlett and Gunnar respond?
“Miss Clarkson, I’m thrilled that you want to record our song," Scarlett told her, "I'm so grateful for this opportunity that you've given us to work with you. It's just I thought I could make it work, but I can’t. Gunnar and I are not really in a place where we can write together anymore.”
That's right. For personal reasons, she walked away from a huge opportunity. The Wall Street Journal's Rachelle Thomas was irritated with Scarlett, too, writing, "She is so selfish and self-centered and just aaarrgh. She is with Avery! She broke up with Gunnar!” Over at TVLine, Kimberly Roots had an even more extreme reaction. "[Scarlett] leaves. While someone filthy rich and famous, who wants to share that money and fame with her, looks on in disbelief. ‘It’s complicated,’ Gunnar says with an apologetic smile. ‘It’s idiotic,’ I think and throw my shoe in the general direction of my TV.”
"Nashville" will probably continue to frustrate us, Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
TV Replay scours the vast television landscape to find the most interesting, amusing, and, on a good day, amazing moments, and delivers them right to your browser.
