'Bachelor' Contestant Quits With Only 3 Weeks To Go

$

Apparently, the whirlwind romance at the heart of "The Bachelor" premise proved too much for one contestant this week. With only three weeks to go until the season finale, Sharleen finally had to admit she couldn't go on.

"The idea of a proposal ... it doesn’t seem like something that is possible for me," she said. "And maybe that’s me needing a lot of time." She said she couldn't get to that place mentally or emotionally within the next three weeks. As such, it wouldn't be fair for her or Juan Pablo if she continued, and so Sharleen eliminated herself from the competition.

It was a move that HitFix's Liane Bonin Starr thought took a lot of guts. "She gave the budding relationship every opportunity to blossom -- and ultimately did the right, selfless thing by leaving," she wrote. The Stir's Emily Abbate echoed those sentiments, writing, "For her to ... be honest with herself that this scenario with Juan Pablo, albeit sexually charged, isn't what's right for her -- that's respectable."

"The Bachelor" airs every Monday at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.

'Star-Crossed' Premiere: Aliens Crash On Earth, Grow Up Hot

It's "Romeo and Juliet" with aliens ... very pretty aliens. Actually, this is The CW, so you kind of knew everyone on its latest show, "Star-Crossed," would be pretty. It's the story of an alien ship that crashes on Earth in 2014. Ten years later, the alien survivors are living in an internment camp, but a group of alien teens are being enrolled in a local high school. Cue high school "star-crossed" romance!

To add a little weight to the central relationship, Emery harbored Roman in her garage briefly when they were both children. This was just after the crash of Roman's ship. Now, they're both older and feeling drawn to one another's hotness. Alien's have the same hormones, apparently. Oh, and the aliens and humans are on the brink of outright war.

Entertainment Weekly's Samantha Highfill put it in millennial language. "If 'The Fault in Our Stars' met 'Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century' in a bar, and the two had a one-night stand, their love child would look a lot like 'Star-Crossed,'" she wrote. "I didn’t have high expectations going into the pilot, which ended up being a good thing, because this show pleasantly surprised me.”

Over at the LA Times, though, Robert Lloyd thought it a too-familiar CW formula. "It's the usual dance of insiders and outsiders, mean kids and weirdos, of Sharks and Jets, Montagues and Capulets biting their thumbs at one another in the school corridor while one special guy and girl fall in love," he wrote. At least it can be said that The CW knows its audience, if the success of all those other shows is any indication.

"Star-Crossed" continues every Monday at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.

Do you like piña coladas? Getting caught in the rain? More importantly, do you like piña coladas during the most dramatic moments of every single movie? Of course you do, and so do we.

That's why we are forever grateful for the existence and brilliance of the Pina Colliding Tumblr by Sean Crespo and Carol Hartsell -- our very own senior comedy editor.

It's like the Tumblr says: "Escape (The Piña Colada Song) by Rupert Holmes is great and it should be in every movie."

Wiser words have never been spoken, so go ahead and make "pina colliding" the new "rickrolling".

'Revenge' Graphic Novel Will Reveal 'Secret Origin' Of Emily Thorne

Emily Thorne, as portrayed by Emily VanCamp on ABC's "Revenge," is a larger-than-life personality already, so she should do very well in the world of comic books. Hardcore fans of the show might have to go out of their way to find a comic shop -- or seek out a digital copy -- when Marvel Comics releases "Revenge: The Secret Origin of Emily Thorne" later this year.

Parent company Disney owns both Marvel and ABC, and Marvel has already published successful comics based on "Castle" and "Once Upon a Time." That happy relationship looks to continue with this latest project, scheduled for release on September 3. It should be just in time for the fourth season premiere of the ABC drama -- now the network has to renew it, don't they?

USA Today spoke with "Revenge" executive producer Sunil Nayar, who said, "The parts of the history we're bursting to tell is the origin of the woman you see that shows up in the pilot, as differentiated from the girl who was thrown into (juvenile detention) when her dad was taken from her."

She added that the Emily Thorne seen on television is "the sum of all the lessons learned and beatings taken in this graphic novel." The story will follow a 19-year-old Emily/Amanda as she goes on her first mission after training under Takeda.

"Revenge" returns Sunday, March 9 at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.

Pandora Can Predict How You Vote Based On Your Favorite Stations

Listen to Bob Marley on Pandora recently? Then Pandora assumes you're a Democrat.

Using an algorithm influenced by election results and the musical preferences of individual users, Pandora will introduce a new advertising service next week that enables political organizations to target listeners based on its sense of their political leanings, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Mary J. Blige and Bob Marley listeners should expect to hear Democratic advertisements, while those who jam out to Yanni and Dolly Parton would be best targeted by Republican campaigns. Bruce Springsteen and Jay Z listeners could go either way.

Specific genres can also give insight into users' political leanings. Country, Gospel and New Age listeners lean toward Republicans, while fans of jazz, reggae, R&B and electronic music are more commonly found in counties favoring Democrats, the company said.

Jack Krawczyk, Pandora's director of product management, told The Wall Street Journal he believes Pandora's predictions are between 75 percent and 80 percent accurate. Y'all know there are plenty of Brad Paisley fans rootin' for Hillary in 2016.

Watch A Young Chris Farley SLAY His Iconic 'Motivational Speaker' Sketch In Rare 1990 Video

Years before one of Chris Farley's most beloved characters made its television debut on "Saturday Night Live," he performed it with writer Bob Odenkirk on the main stage at Chicago's Second City.

In a video posted on Monday by The Second City, you can watch Farley lecturing a desperate couple's two teenaged children as "Motivational Speaker" Matt Foley during a show on July 26, 1990.

And yes, Foley was already divorced and "living in a van down by the river" back then.

Farley went on to debut with "SNL" about two months later in an episode hosted by "Twin Peaks" star Kyle MacLachlan. His Matt Foley character, named after a Chicago-area pastor Farley knew, debuted on a May 8, 1993 episode hosted by Christina Applegate. The sketch was named the best "SNL" sketch of all time by the Rolling Stone.

Farley, a Madison, Wis. native, died in Chicago in 1997 at the age of 33 of a cocaine and morphine overdose. Sunday would have been his 50th birthday.

This Giant Pacific octopus got a little hands-y (or arm-y) with a cameraman at Bluefish Cove near Carmel, Calif. Watch as the eight-armed beauty reaches out to grab the camera, and then accidentally captures some cephalopod selfies.

According to National Geographic, these guys are highly intelligent creatures. They can learn to open jars, mimic other octopuses, and have even solved mazes in lab tests.

Who knows, perhaps if this guy had held on to that camera long enough, it could have learned to become a documentary filmmaker.

Birthday suit, indeed!

Paris Hilton shared a photo of herself wearing nothing but a thong, knee-high Jimmy Choo boots and a bunny mask, proving that while she may be a DJ now, her modeling days are definitely not over. Careful positioning prevents the shot from being too revealing.

The sexy black and white photo, which she captioned, "#BirthdayBunny in her #BirthdaySuit & #JimmyChoos," was shot by celebrity photographer Solmaz Saberi.

The nearly-nude picture was posted just a day after Hilton shared photos of her hot pink birthday gown, which she admitted "was a lil revealing."

This 'Lustworthy' Photo Series Upends What We Consider 'Attractive'

Sexual attractiveness does not come in one thin, white package. Men and women of all types can possess some serious sex appeal, and thus, it follows that we should see all sorts of men and women in our advertisements.

In December 2013, blogger Jes Baker and photographer Liora K created a series of mock advertisements, tagged "Lustworthy," starring a traditionally "unattractive" woman and a traditionally "attractive" man -- and the results were stunning. After the images went viral, Baker asked readers and viewers what other body type pairings they'd like to see represented in ads -- and several commenters suggested showcasing traditionally "unattractive" men.

"Why is it always a big girl with a muscular guy?" commenter Kari wrote. "You guys do it all the time. Why not a big guy with a muscular woman?"

"The world shouted and we listened!" Baker told The Huffington Post in an email.

lustworthy

In a blog post introducing the second photo series, Baker wrote:
With the second installment of Lustworthy, Liora and I visually challenge the perception that the larger, fat man isn't worthy of lust based on looks alone. We are taught that his body is something to be tolerated at most, and that it's sex appeal is well... nil. This couldn't be further from the truth, and goddamnit someone needs to talk about it!

As Baker points out, it's commonly assumed that an attractive, younger woman would only be with a less attractive man because she is a "gold digger" or "sugar baby" after his wealth.

"It becomes easy to assume that the only reason the woman would be with our 'big guy' is because of his money and power; the worth of these things far outweighing his 'undesirable' body,'" Baker wrote in her blog post. "She puts up with his looks simply because the trade off is worth it."

lustworthy

This series emphasizes that partners in unconventional pairings can feel genuine desire for each other regardless of factors like money and influence -- and that seeing these pairings in mainstream media and advertising can help change societal perceptions.

"We don’t see pairings of fat men and thin women based on the fact that she thinks he's the hottest man alive," Baker wrote. "We don't see pairings of fat men and thin women based on primitive law of attraction alone. THIS MUST CHANGE."

lustworthy

The creators hope that the images will spark dialogue about who is traditionally considered attractive, and open people's minds to different parameters for what is sexy.

"I'm hoping there will be both negative and positive reactions," Baker told HuffPost. "Negative, because this is the perfect reminder of why these campaigns are so important. We must see these sorts of visuals enough to not be shocked by the content."

Disney's 'Frozen' Slammed By Mormon Grandmother For 'Gay Agenda To Normalize Homosexuality'

$

"Frozen" has been charming critics and audiences all winter, but one conservative grandmother was less than taken by the Disney animated feature, which has grossed a reported $378.3 million domestically.

Kathryn Skaggs, author of the "A Well-Behaved Mormon Woman" blog, has penned a lengthy post blasting "Frozen" for what she described as the movie's "gay agenda to normalize homosexuality."

Exactly what about the smash film rankled Skaggs (who claims to have seen, and enjoyed, "Frozen" three times with her grandchildren) remains a mystery. Still, she points to the countless tribute and parody versions of the movie's Academy Award-nominated theme song, "Let It Go," and writes:

I could blatantly see that the homosexual agenda, to normalize the practice, was not simply an underlying message in the movie "Frozen," but is the actual story.

The process of normalizing homosexual behavior in society is going to require more than the liberal media saying it is so -- which they do all the time -- or activist judges legalizing same-sex marriage in one state after another. It's going to require the indoctrination of our children, in order to lead the their generation to the next, necessary, level of mainstream social acceptance.

Skaggs, who says she is not anti-gay but believes that "acting on same-sex attraction is contrary to God's will," then added:

I have no problem with those who find the homosexual messaging good, or important for society, from their perspective. However, I'm not okay that too many parents, who would not normally support the normalization of homosexual behavior, seem to be completely blind to its advocacy throughout a children's movie, and are in fact gushing over "Frozen."

I just don't believe that with full disclosure they would feel to continue. And yet, I also acknowledge the beauty, used in every facet of the movie, which has captivated, or rather frozen audiences, everywhere.

You can read her full blog post here.

It isn't the first time that Disney has come under fire for what some perceive as the company's stance on the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. Last year, Walt Disney World's unofficial "Gay Days" tradition was slammed by One Million Moms, the conservative and notoriously anti-gay group best known for threatening to boycott JC Penney after the retail chain hired Ellen DeGeneres as its spokesperson.

The Florida Family Association has also reportedly blasted the "Gay Days" tradition, vowing to fly two planes carrying "warning" banners over the Orlando-based resort for "promoting homosexuality to a captured audience" visiting the four theme parks.

George W. Bush Has Been Painting Animal Skulls, Apparently

George W. Bush's art appears to have taken a dark turn lately.

Dubya has moved on from his usual fare of awkward self portraits and cute animal pictures to a new subject: skulls.

At least, that's what he and his wife told Maureen Dowd at Nelson Mandela's funeral service.

It seems that, in the wake of his hospitalization in August due to a blocked artery, the 43rd president is using his creative outlet to reflect on mortality.

"He said that since his heart surgery, he was spending a lot of time painting skulls," Dowd writes in The Times. "Animal skulls, Laura quickly interjected."

When Bush first took up painting lessons, he reportedly told his instructor, "There's a Rembrandt trapped in this body. Your job is to find it."

Maybe his inner artiste is more of a Georgia O'Keeffe.

Harry Connick Jr. Shames Teen For Her Too-Sexy Performance On 'American Idol'

Harry Connick, Jr. is the father of three daughters, and so he finds himself feeling very fatherly when some of the young, female contestants hit the "American Idol" stage. On the first live show of the season, 18-year-old Emily Piriz performed "Paris (Oh La La)" by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.

It's a sexually-charged song that had already gotten Connick, Jr. upset in an earlier round of the competition. That time it was a 15-year-old, and Connick, Jr. told her she needed to sing younger songs that weren't so risque.

"Is that what you really want to sing?" he asked Piriz on Tuesday night after having her recite the opening lyrics to the song: "You got me down on the floor, so whatcha bring me down here for?"

Once again, it was Jennifer Lopez who jumped to the defense of the young singer. Hollywood Life's Amanda Michelle Steiner agreed with J.Lo, writing, "Harry. Chill. Anyway, the opinions of middle-aged men aside ... she sounded great!”

The competition continues on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.

Alex Pettyfer Tells Chelsea Handler He's Always Wanted To Show Her His Penis

Chelsea Handler has never been shy about getting sexual during her interviews on "Chelsea Lately." With Alex Pettyfer as her guest, she found someone who was willing to head down to the gutter with her.

An audience whoop got the ball rolling, with Handler explaining it away by saying, "She just wants to have sex with somebody who’s not circumcised.” This was an assumption based on the fact Pettyfer is English. But he was quick to clarify that he is circumsiced.

“Oh, you are?" Handler asked. "Can we see it?”

“It’s so funny. I’ve always wanted to show you my..." Pettyfer began, but Chelsea finished his thought, "Your penis?"

Handler later took issue with the classic song "Endless Love" not appearing in the remake Pettyfer stars in. Kimmel was just as upset, forcing Pettyfer to sing a duet with him on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." Maybe that's why he didn't want to sing it again on "Chelsea."

Alex Pettyfer can be seen in "Endless Love," in theaters now. "Chelsea Lately" airs weeknights at 11 p.m. EST on E!

Kevin Spacey: Real Politics Is Performance Art

Kevin Spacey did some serious work in preparing for his critically-lauded performance as Frank Underwood in the Netflix series "House of Cards." He explained on "The Daily Show" that he shadowed both the Majority Whip, Kevin McCarthy, and the Minority Whip, Steny Hoyer, to get a better feel for how things work in Washington.

He then described real politics as "performance art." Of the politicans themselves, Spacey said, "I don’t believe them, I don’t believe what they say. I don’t think they’re being absolutely sincere. I think it’s performance art, and most of them are bad actors.”

During an appearance on "Late Show," he said that politicians he's met told him that his show is 99 percent accurate -- a frightening thing to ponder, considering how awful Frank Underwood has been. "The one percent that isn’t?" Spacey said. "You could never get an education bill passed that quickly.”

"House of Cards" Season 2 is now streaming in its entirety on Netflix for your binge-watching pleasure.

Bill O'Reilly dropped by "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and talked about his controversial Super Bowl Sunday interview with President Barack Obama. It was a ten-minute interview that has been pulled apart by the media in the days since. O'Reilly described it as the toughest interview of his life.

"I’ve never done anything more difficult, because you’re up against the clock from day one," he told Kimmel. "From second one. And President Obama can do 20 minutes on your socks. I mean, the guy is very eloquent.”

With only ten minutes to get through the interview, O'Reilly said he had to keep interrupting the President in order to get his questions in. He conceded that it was obnoxious, but that's just what he does.

The media has been all over the place with their analysis. Some called O'Reilly unprepared, while others thought he was rude to the President. And some thought he didn't take it far enough.

Bill Reilly can be seen on "The O'Reilly Factor," weeknights at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. EST on Fox News. "Jimmy Kimmel Live" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. EST on ABC.

Cee Lo Green Leaving 'The Voice' For Good

It looks like the dream team of coaches on "The Voice" is done for good. Of late, the original team of Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, and Blake Shelton had settled into the fall edition, with Usher and Shakira replacing Aguilera and Green for the winter cycle. Now, though, comes word that Green is leaving the show completely.

Green broke the news during a taping of "Ellen," scheduled to air on Wednesday. "I'm going to continue my relationship with NBC," he told host Ellen DeGeneres. "I have a television show development deal with them as well and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year. But yeah, I'm going to miss 'The Voice' ... I'm not coming back, guys."

He said that there are so many other things he wants to do, like complete work on his latest album. Now, it will be up to NBC to once again fill Green's chair, but this time in the fall cycle as well. Can they convince Usher or Shakira to film back-to-back seasons, or will it be a new face entirely?

The new season of "The Voice" kicks off on Monday, February 24 at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
