Bondi Hipsters Recreate Miranda Kerr GQ Photo Shoot With Thought-Provoking Results (NSFW)

Looking at Miranda Kerr's recent British GQ photo shoot, it's unlikely many thought: "What if a tattooed, bearded man was posing for these photos instead?" But two guys from Australia decided to do just that in order to highlight double standards in the fashion industry.

Dom Nader and Adrian Archer of Bondi Beach, Australia, are the men behind Bondi Hipsters, a parody duo whose YouTube mini-series focuses on them making it in the fashion biz. In an attempt to recreate Kerr's May 2014 British GQ shoot photographed by Mario Testino -- for which she posed mainly nude -- Nader stepped in front of the camera and bared some skin. He also mimicked some of Kerr's more personal quotes, which were about same-sex attraction and having mile-high orgasms.

(Some images below are NSFW)

"We thought it would be interesting to re-shoot Miranda Kerr's recent UK GQ shoot, using a man as the subject," Christiaan Van Vuuren, a writer for Bondi Hipsters, told The Huffington Post in an email from Sydney. "With this, we want to re-quote some of the things that she said in her GQ interview, but coming from the perspective of a male."

The laughable results of the Bondi Hipsters shoot is meant to shine a light on the industry's representation of women.

"As you can see, the shoot comes across very differently," Van Vuuren wrote. "We think that this is a good case for the over-sexualization of the female body in the high fashion world. For some reason as soon as you put a man in there, and have a man talking about same-sex curiosity and masturbation it's an entirely different thing that we aren't used to seeing in the media."

Check out photos from the Bondi Hipsters shoot below.

Disney Chief Reveals 'Star Wars:Episode VII' Has Begun Shooting, Cast Nearly Complete

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter's Stephen Galloway on April 2, Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn revealed that "Star Wars: Episode VII" has already begun shooting. When asked what was the most difficult part of supervising the movie, Horn responded "casting," but quickly confirmed a little later that the casting process is nearly complete. Naturally, when asked if he could disclose any names or details, he simply replied "no."

Horn also discussed the difficulty of putting together the script. "It's all about the screenplay. Screenplay, screenplay, screenplay," Horn said. Discussing how it will be 35 years since "Return of the Jedi" debuted once the new film hits theaters, Horn said that the screenplay was co-written by Lawrence Kasdan and J.J. Abrams, following an early draft by Michael Arndt.

Horn closed out this segment by stating in a Yoda voice what should be the motto of the film's sluggish rollout: "Patience, you must have." Watch the chat below.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" has set a record as the biggest domestic April release ever.

The Disney sequel debuted with $96.2 million topping the previous record holder, 2011's "Fast Five," which opened with $86.2 million. Last weekend "The Winter Soldier," which stars Chris Evans as the shield wielding superhero, commanded 32 international markets, gaining $75.2 million in its overseas bow. Expanding to Russia, Australia and China in its second week, the Marvel comic adaptation has earned $207.1 million internationally.

Paramount's biblical saga "Noah," starring Russell Crowe, took a drastic dip in its second weekend, earning $17 million after debuting with $44 million. Still, it sailed into second place, pushing Lionsgate's young adult science-fiction thriller "Divergent," led by Shailene Woodley, to third with $13 million in its third week.

'Palo Alto' Trailer: James Franco's Newest Film Has Some Odd Timing [UPDATE]

When James Franco's questionable Instagram texts with a 17-year-old girl leaked online last week, many thought it was part of a viral marketing stunt for "Palo Alto," a new film based on a short story collection written by Franco. Here's why: "Palo Alto" includes one story about a young girl named April (played by Emma Roberts), who becomes romantically entangled with her soccer coach, Mr. B (Franco). The relationship is part of the film's new trailer, which was released on April 2 by Tribeca Film.

”I’m embarrassed, and I guess I’m just a model of how social media is tricky,” Franco said about his Instagram faux pas in an interview with Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan on the pair's television show on April 4. "It's a way people meet each other today, but what I’ve learned is you don’t know who’s on the other end. I used bad judgement and I learned my lesson."

"Palo Alto" was directed by Gia Coppola and opens in select theaters May 9. Decide for yourself if Franco's social-media scandal was part of an elaborate viral marketing campaign in the comments below.

CORRECTION: The "Palo Alto" trailer was released the same day Franco's Instagram texts became public, not after.

Broadway Battles Bullying Concert, Featuring Laura Benanti, Will Benefit Michael Morones Foundation

Some of Broadway's most beloved voices will harmonize in honor of an 11-year-old North Carolina boy who attempted suicide earlier this year after reportedly being taunted by classmates for his love of "My Little Pony."

Tony Award winner Laura Benanti ("Gypsy," "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown") and Robin De Jesús ("In The Heights") are just two of the many performers set to appear at Broadway Battles Bullying, a one-night-only benefit concert at New York University's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Michael Morones Foundation, which works to educate communities about youth suicide prevention and the effects of bullying at large.

Joining Benanti and De Jesús for the April 14 show will be Joe Iconis and Family (NBC’s "Smash"), Lauren Worsham ("A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder") and talented youngsters Jake and Sydney Lucas ("Newsies" and "Fun Home," respectively). Meanwhile, the concert's honorary host committee includes Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Patrick Stewart, Megan Hilty and Jonathan Groff, among others.

Executive Producer Rich Silverstein told The Huffington Post in an email that he was "thrilled" to have assembled such a "talented and passionate" team for the event, which he said aims to "fight the scourge of bullying through education."

"One thing I've always loved about the NYC theater community is that we rally for important causes," he said. "Bullying has become a much more dangerous, volatile issue since I was in school."

In January, it was reported that Morones may have possible brain damage and needed a tube in his throat as the result of his suicide attempt. Prior to that, he is said to have been teased immensely by his classmates for his love of the "My Little Pony" TV series.

His story also inspired the "Art for Michael" project as well as a nationwide campaign in which tattoo parlors offered patrons discounts on "My Little Pony"-themed tattoos, with proceeds going toward Morones' recovery.

Head here for more information about the Broadway Battles Bullying concert, which hits NYU's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts on Monday, April 14.

An Art Critic Reviews George W. Bush's Paintings... And Isn't Impressed

George W. Bush's painting exhibition opened this weekend at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum in Dallas. Dubya's premiere exhibition revolves around portraits of world leaders from Vladimir Putin to his own father, rendered in Bush's strangely intriguing figurative style.

Art critic Deborah Solomon stopped by HuffPost Live to give her thoughts on the 43rd president-turned-burgeoning artist. Spoiler alert: she wasn't particularly impressed.

"I would just like to point out they are basically very simple-minded as paintings," Solomon explains, stressing the fact that Bush likely projects photographs onto a panel and copies them, a process known to the masses as tracing.

Although Solomon clarifies this technique is a "completely legitimate method" for postmodern contemporary artists, she notes that Bush doesn't transform his imagery in any way beyond simply copying it. (It's also unlikely that Bush is partaking in a postmodern exploration of the proliferation of images.)

New York Times art critic Roberta Smith was a bit kinder to Bush in her recent review of his show. "Mr. Bush has an uncanny ability to translate photographs into more awkward images enlivened by distortions and slightly ham-handed brushwork," she explained. "His skill may be disconcerting for people who love painting and dislike the former president, but still, everyone needs to get a grip, especially those in the art world who dismiss the paintings without even seeing them."

Perhaps Solomon summed it up best when she concluded, "I think a lot of us wish he had become a painter as opposed to a president. We all could have been saved a lot of trouble."

Let us know your thoughts on Bush's surprising art career in the comments.

Drone Art Project Hopes To Make Pilots Think Twice Before They Shoot

By giving a face to the victims of drone strikes abroad, a powerful new art project is forcing U.S. drone pilots and policy makers to ponder the deadly consequences of one of America's key counterterrorism programs.

Two weeks ago, artists gathered in a rural community of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to unveil a gigantic portrait of a local child whose parents and siblings were allegedly killed by missiles fired from a U.S. drone.

drone art project

The installation can be seen from the cameras of drones that are known to fly over the region and is called #NotABugSplat, in reference to the slang used by the military for a man killed in a drone strike.

This type of dehumanization of war is exactly what the project is trying to rally against. As the artists explain on their website, it is their hope the project "will create empathy and introspection amongst drone operators, and will create dialogue amongst policy makers."

While the visage of a Pakistani child is front and center to the project, the artists behind it have chosen to remain largely faceless, referring to themselves simply as "an artist collective in Pakistan and the U.S., including the French artist JR." The exact location of the installation is also unknown, as the media spokesman for the group has previously declined to specify its whereabouts out of concern for the safety of the locals.

#NotABugSplat is one of many projects that attempt to raise awareness of what has been a deadly element of President Barack Obama's light-footprint foreign policy. U.S. drone strikes are believed to have killed over 2,400 people in the past five years. The strikes are an incredibly contentious issue in countries such as Yemen and Pakistan, with protests over the killing of civilians and violation of national sovereignty abound.

Jon Favreau's "Chef" premiered at this year's South by Southwest Film Festival, but general audiences can see what the erstwhile "Iron Man" director has cooked up for his return to indie films starting on May 9. Open Road will release "Chef" on that date, and the studio revealed the film's first trailer on Monday afternoon.

"I'm most proud of the fact that it shows there's a recipe for success if you dial into the shit that is going to make your life better," Favreau told HuffPost Entertainment about "Chef" during an interview in Austin, Texas. "It's counterintuitive, but if you take time away from your career and invest it in your personal life, your career flourishes. That's a lesson I've learned a decade ago. That was the real underlying message of the movie."

Paul Stanley Claims Some KISS Bandmates Were Anti-Semitic

KISS frontman Paul Stanley reportedly says in his new memoir that former bandmates Ace Frehley and Peter Criss were anti-Semitic.

According to the New York Post, Stanley recounted that Frehley had a collection of Nazi memorabilia and that both Frehley and Criss resented Stanley and Gene Simmons, both of whom are Jewish, for their ambitions and dominant roles in creating the band's music.

"As a result, the two of them tried to sabotage the band -- which, as they saw it, was unfairly manipulated by [us] money-grubbing Jews," Stanley wrote in Face the Music: A Life Exposed, per the Post. Stanley told the tabloid his assertions of anti-Semitism were "based on years and years of interactions."

A rep for Frehley kissed off the accusation. "Let's just say that Paul is trying to sell some books," Frehley's manager, Dave Frey, told The Huffington Post. "It's definitely not true." Frey also noted that Frehley's fiancee, Rachael Gordon, is Jewish. HuffPost also reached out to Stanley, Simmons and Criss but didn't immediately hear back.

The tabloid noted that Stanley also ripped Simmons, claiming that Simmons falsely took credit for the band's marketing and merchandising victories. However, the two continue to play together in the band (sans Frehley and Criss) and also co-own a new Arena Football League team, the L.A. KISS.

The book's April 8 release comes just days ahead of KISS's induction into the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame on Thursday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. However, the popular makeup metal band will not be performing, in part because past and present members could not agree on who would take the stage. Stanley told CBS the Hall of Fame is a "farce."

Stanley's tell-all received positive reviews from fellow rockers Jimmy Page, Elton John and Dave Grohl in quotes posted on Amazon.

Everyday Objects Make This Artist's Doodles Ten Times More Adorable

Many of the world's best known art is made of a singular material: statues made of marble, portraits and battles depicted in oil paints, images of war-torn nations and tropical jungles on film. But for one Portuguese-speaking artist, his two-dimensional sketches are never complete without adding in an element of the real world, mostly objects we interact with everyday.

Victor Nunes' work uses 2D sketches that integrate 3D objects, mostly common objects, into their structure. Whether it's a lettuce leaf skirt on a dancer or a walnut for a person's face, each tiny object enhances the composition of the sketches in a cheeky, playful way. Nunes' Facebook page boasts many of these images, which he describes as "...faces and other stuff, all with a touch of humor." Beyond the humor, these pieces evoke a sense of wonder about the objects we handle everyday, that just by looking at them differently, we can find a work of art.

Chewbacca Will Be In 'Star Wars: Episode VII'

Laugh it up, fuzzball: According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Peter Mayhew will reprise his role of Chewbacca in "Star Wars: Episode VII." Mayhew played the Wookiee in four "Star Wars" films: "Episode III," "Episode IV," "Episode V" and "Episode VI."

Mayhew, who turns 70 in May, has not been added to the official "Star Wars: Episode VII" cast, which still currently numbers just one: R2D2. It's expected, however, that original stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will all appear in "Episode VII," along with newcomers such as Adam Driver (as the film's villain) and, perhaps, Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o.

Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn revealed on April 2 that "Star Wars: Episode VII" was already filming, this despite no official casting announcements. "We have a lot of them [in place]," Horn said about the "Star Wars" cast. "We're just not completely done yet."

"Star Wars: Episode VII," which still doesn't even have an official title, is due out in theaters on Dec. 18, 2015. For more on Mayhew, head to THR.

What Walking Backwards Through Tokyo Looks Like... Backwards

Sometimes it's the simplest ideas that end up being the most magical. Take this for instance: film a man walking backwards through a foreign city and show it in reverse.

That is the very premise for this work of wonder above from new media artist Simon Bouisson titled "Tokyo Reverse" that has photographer Ludovic Zuili walking through the Japanese city awkwardly, but seemingly forward, as everyone and everything around him appear to be going backwards. So simple, so tricky.

Because it's so hypnotic, we're including an extended version above. To learn more about the project or other works by Simon Bouisson, be sure to visit his website here.
